Event - Bockenplautz Acoustic Rock Smackdown Location: Best Place - 901 W. Juneau Ave. Date: Friday, February 24, 2012 Time: 8:00 pm to 12:00 am Phone: 414-630-1609 Cover Charge: $5.00 Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery is pleased to present the return of Bockenplautz on Friday, Feb. 24th. Bockenplautz members include: Jonnie "JB" Bockenplautz - acoustic guitar, vocals. Christopher "Lumpy" Bockenplautz - acoustic guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, banjo, harmonica, vocals. Cousin Sean - percussion. Bockenplautz has been playing together as a group off and on since 1991, brought together by the 10th floor of Ogg West dormitory at UW-Madison. Now in 2011, we're taking our campfire and house-party acoustic rock show on stage and bringing the spectacle directly to you. Our delicious Acoustic Power Pop is a blinding amalgamated stew of pop, hip hop, and metal sensibilities, with hearty chunks of modern alternative rock, all mixed together in a rich classic rock broth. Mmmmm... that's good us! Their performance will include debuting about 9 other new tunes, including songs by The Romantics, Katy Perry, Iron and Wine, The Knack, The Kinks, Sammy Hagar, The Beatles, and Matthew Sweet. The bands influences include; Cheap Trick, AC/DC, Mumford & Sons, Tommy Tutone, Outkast, Soul Asylum, Barenaked Ladies, U2, REM, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Neil Young, Modest Mouse, Ted Leo, Hold Steady, Prince, Huey Lewis, Peter Gabriel, Morrissey, and The Smiths. We perform our Bockenplautz Acoustic Power Pop according to the stringent premium music standards established by the German Rock Purity Law of 1516, the Rockheitsgebot. All of our music is formulated from three and ONLY three simple ingredients: acoustic instruments, tight harmonies, and gusto. Yeah, that's right, gusto! Tonight... Let it be Bockenplautz.
